AI future-proofing your design career in 2025

As a design professional in 2025, what should you be doing to future-proof your career for AI?

Last week I met with Bria Alexander, Brittany Hobbs, and Christopher Noessel to discuss the latest AI developments in preparation for their Designinig with AI panel: “Up to the minute: The latest in AI’s impact on UX.”

But the conversation took an unexpected turn.

As they reviewed what’s happened in AI since January, what was top of mind for them was not a specific new model or tool, but questions of access and resourcing.

  • With more costly tiers of access for high-powered AI tools, who will get left behind?

  • Will AI prototyping tools disempower designers, or will it welcome valuable new voices into the industry?

  • And how are these trends being viewed by the executive leaders who have ultimate say in tool budgets and headcount?

In the view of our panelists, these are the questions design professionals should pay attention to as we navigate AI in 2025.

And spoiler alert: there are no pat answers.

But there steps you can take to position yourself better, and you’re going to hear about them from Chris, Brittany, and Bria on June 10.

It promises to be a worthwhile discussion, so I hope to see you next week (!) at Designing with AI 2025.
